Goodbye Year 2010!

Year 2010 is going to be a history in less than 48 hours from now on. A new chapter of life will begin. So, how was your Year 2010?! Have you achieved your goal(s) that you have set for year 2010?! Is year 2010 a good or bad year to you?!

Well, as for me, Year 2010 is kind of 'complexion' for me. I have stopped working due to my health problem. I have lost my most favourite cousin brother in this year too. I have recovered from my sickness. It seems that there were ups and downs for me in this year. I wish that all the bad things will leave behind and a brand new life will start for the new year. The most important thing is to stay in good health!

Anyway, Malaysia will be having the public holiday on 31/12/2010 due to Malaysian football team has won the international football match. I guess it is a double celebration for the Malaysians in this year. So, I would like to wish you to have a Happy & Prosperous New Year. Goodbye 2010 and Welcome Year 2011 and HAPPY 2011!!!

My CT Scan for Chest

I was having my CT scan for chest at the UMMC this morning. The cost of the procedure is RM350. As I am a TB patient, I do not need to pay for the charges. I am wondered what is the cost of the CT scan out there?!
I was required to take the medications and fasting before my CT scan. The medicine was Prednisolone. I was required to take 10 tablets for 3 times, which was in 12 hours, 7 hours and an hour before the CT scan. FYI, it was required to take in empty-stomach. The medicine was tasted bitter. Yuck! L
After my registration at the counter, I was directed to wait in another hall for the CT scan. I had waited for about 30 minutes then it was my turn. The radiologist explained to me about the CT scan procedure and he told me to stay still and do not move during the scanning. I then informed him for my medications that I am allergy to and the medications that I am taking, and he noted it.
I was then changed to the gown as provided by the nurse and went to the room for the procedure. I saw the CT scanner; it is similar to the scanner of MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging). The technologists then positioned me on the CT examination table; I was lying flat by putting the hands at the side of my head. I asked the technologists how long would be the procedure, they told me it would only take for about 5 minutes. I was relieved to hear that as I thought it would require longer time for it. This is due to when I was having my MRI in last year, it took about 40 minutes for the procedure. Thus, I was thinking that the CT scan would take about 20-30 minutes. Luckily, it was not.
Anyway, the technologists informed me to stay still while doing the scanning, and followed their instructions and closed my eyes. They covered my legs with a blanket which I think it is for the prevention from the radiation effect. Then I felt the table was started to move through the scanner and I saw the red laser light. Then the technologist told me to close my eyes and the scanning started. I closed my eyes then I felt the table was moving in slowly.  After a while, I heard the technologist told me to hold my breath and then to breathe normal. So I just did by the instructions. The instruction was given to me twice. I heard a slight buzzing sound during the procedure as it was the scanner doing the scanning. It was no pain for the procedure. I was just needed to stay still for the scanning.
However, a negative thought has stroked my mind during my scanning. I was worried that the result would be bad. I was wondering why I had such thought! : P
Anyway, the scanning was done in less than 10 minutes . The radiologist told me that I could have my result when I have my appointment with my Chest specialist in next Tuesday. So, I changed back my own clothes and left UMMC and headed home. So, I will only have my CT scan results in next week, and I hope it is good! J

Christmas is Over!

Christmas is over! So, how was your Christmas holiday? Mine was a normal day. Guess some people have already back to work and some are still having holidays. Well, I hope the people who back to work would not have Monday blues! :P

My cousin sister and her whole family came to visit my mother and I yesterday. I was glad to meet them as I did not see them for quite a few months. Moreover, I am also miss my adorable twins niece so much.  So, here they came.

Wow, my twins niece have grown. They are 19 month-old now. The can do the walking now and have grown taller. I remember the last time I saw them that they still yet be able to walk. Now, they are walking. I am really happy to meet them. They look so adorable. I was playing with them and also took some photo of video clips of the twins.

Gosh, the twins are very energetic, they were walking around in the living room of my house and they were also fighting for the small bench.  It is very funny, if one of them go for the small bench, then the other would fight for it. If one did not go for the bench, then the other would not go neither. Guess, the twins really are having the same 'thought'! In order for the twins to stop the fighting, I had to give them some toys to play with. Of course the toys are not belong to me, but my own niece. I realised a thing, the twins like to scream, they screamed a lot in my house! :P Well, maybe they are too excited for the games!

The funny thing is that when I called their name, the elder twins would answer "Hah?!" So, she knows that I was calling her. For me, I think twins are cute as 2 people look alike, and maybe the attitudes are the same. Anyway, my cousin sister and her family left our house in the late afternoon. She told us that she would come to visit us again in the Chinese New Year. I guess by that time, the twins have grown some more. I am looking forward for that time.

OK, let me show you the pix and video clip of my cute twins niece.

White Christmas!

It is Christmas day! So, did you go for the countdown party last night?! I did not, I was just staying at home to celebrate the Christmas of 2010. There was fireworks displayed here and I could hear firecracker from the neighbourhood.

This reminds me when I was celebrating the Christmas in Sydney, Australia when I was 10 year-old. In that year, I visited to Sydney and have met some Christian friends. So, on the Christmas day, they invited my mother and I to their Church for the celebration. After that, we went to the friend's house for dinner. I recalled that I was playing with other children with the fireworks after the meals. I was happy about it as it was my first Christmas in overseas.

I always have a wish that I would like to have White Christmas since then. The reason is White Christmas is beautiful and it is only the real atmosphere of the Christmas. Well, this is just my own thought. So, I am always looking forward for it. However, during my school days, I could not go to overseas for Christmas due to I am not come from a wealthy family as I could not afford to travel overseas.

When I started to work, I managed to have savings and I was thinking that I would able to achieve my White Christmas dream. However, I could not do so. This is due to I was required to stay for the year-end closing for my work. Moreover, my colleague is a Catholic, and she is having her Christmas holidays as I required to back-up for her works. Thus, I was not allowed to take leaves for the month of December. :(

After I resigned from my work, again I could not have White Christmas in this year. This is due to my health problem as I have to stay from the crowded area for the moment. Thus, I am staying at home for my Christmas this year. Well, I wish that I will have my White Christmas in next year.

Anyway, it's Christmas. Have a blessed Christmas, everyone. May we all get to spend quality time with our loved ones and express our love for them. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! :)

Happy Dong Zhi!!! 冬至快乐!!!

Today is 22/12/2010, it is the Dong Zhi or Winter Solstice Festival (冬至).

Have you taken the tangyuan yet? Well, I did. I eaten the tangyuan since last night. I even took tangyan as my breakfast this morning. It was delicious as it was cooked by my mother for our family.

I am wishing all the Chinese to have a HAPPY DONG ZHI 冬至快乐!!!

DongZhi Festival 冬至

The DongZhi Festival of year 2010 is coming in less than 6 hours. The Dōngzhì Festival or Winter Solstice Festival (冬至 pronounced as  Dōngzhì; literally "the Extreme of Winter") is one of the most important festivals celebrated by the Chinese on or around December 22 every year when sunshine is weakest and daylight shortest. In fact, the Dongzhi Festival is the most important Chinese festival celebration.

The origins of this festival can be traced back to the yin and yang philosophy of balance and harmony in the cosmos. After this celebration, there will be days with longer daylight hours and therefore an increase in positive energy flowing in. The philosophical significance of this is symbolized by the I Ching hexagram fù (復, "Returning").

Traditionally, the Dongzhi Festival is also a time for the family to get together. One activity that occurs during these get together (especially in the southern parts of China and in Chinese communities overseas) is the making and eating of tangyuan (汤圆) or balls of glutinous rice, which symbolize reunion. Tangyuan are made of glutinous rice flour and sometimes brightly coloured. Each family member receives at least one large tangyuan in addition to several small ones. The flour balls may be plain or stuffed. They are cooked in a sweet soup or savoury broth with both the ball and the soup/broth served in one bowl. It is also often served with a mildly alcoholic unfiltered rice wine containing whole grains of glutinous rice (and often also Sweet Osmanthus flowers), called jiuniang.

However, in northern China, people typically eat dumplings instead of tangyuan on Dongzhi. It is said to have originated from Zhang Zhongjing in the Han Dynasty. So, it is a difference between the northern and southern China even though all are Chinese.

Old traditions also require people with the same surname or from the same clan to gather at their ancestral temples to worship on this day. There is always a grand reunion dinner following the sacrificial ceremony. The festive food is also a reminder that we are now a year older and should behave better in the coming year. Even today, many Chinese around the world, especially the elderly, still insist that one is "a year older" right after the Dongzhi celebration instead of waiting for the Chinese New Year.

So, let us take a look of the different types of tangyuan available.

My favourite tangyuan is the picture above that fills with the peanuts. Yummy!!! :P OK, I want to wish all the Chinese a HAPPY DONGZHI FESTIVAL!!! 冬至快乐!!!

Rain Storm / Snow Storm

It is raining again. It is raining here everyday in this whole week. Moreover the rain is very heavily too. If there is no raining, it would be having nice breeze. I am kind of enjoying these nice breeze, as it makes me feel 'refresh'.

However, if it was raining too heavily, there were thunderstorm and lightning. But I do not want to make any complaints on these thunderstorm. This is due to I am staying with my family as I do not need to travel anywhere to meet my family. As compared to those people in Europe, they are having snow storm, eg. in England, Germany. The people cannot go back to their hometown or origin country as the flights have been cancelled due to the snow storm. Moreover, as the festive season is approaching soon, I believe they are eager to go back to meet their family. Thus, I am feeling sorry for those people who are suffering now. I wish all these storms can over soon so that the people can meet their family on the festive season.

Now, I pray for all those bad things would over soon and all the people to have a happy holidays. Peace!!!

Christmas Shopping Spree

Time flies, it is the weekend again. Next Saturday will be the Christmas. I bet many people will go for the shopping spree for X'mas since it is YES (Year End Sales).

All the shopping complexes have decorated for the Christmas celebration. I have been to the Sunway Pyramid, Pavilion and IOI Mall. The Christmas decorations are beautiful respectively. Each of the shopping complex has its own theme for the Christmas decoration.

I recalled in my old office, my colleagues and I used to have decorations for the festive seasons, i.e. Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Deepavali and Christmas. The festive season that I like to decorate for is the Christmas. This is due to I think the Christmas accessories are beautiful. When I put or hanged the small accessories on the Christmas tree, I think they look beautiful. My colleagues and I were happily enjoying for the decorations after work.

Since I am not working now, I did not do the decorations of the festive season anymore, not even for my own house. But I will still enjoy the spirit of the festive season. I will enjoy the season holiday. So, let me wish you all in advance to have a very merry Christmas!!! Ho Ho Ho!!!

My Little Niece has Returned Home

From my previous blog, I said that my little niece has went to her grandparent's house to stay over for some days. Well, she has came back home last night at around 9:15pm. Her grandparents have sent her back.

My little niece was looked very tired. It seems like she has grown taller since I did not see her for few days. I was wondering is she really has grown taller or I had seen wrongly. Haha! :P Anyway, she took a bowl of soup as her supper as given by my mother.

After that, she was telling us what had she done for those days at her grandparents house. She was telling that she and her cousin sister were playing 'Spy Game', watching TV, went for KFC, Nandos, followed her grandparents to the market, etc..

So, today, she is watching TV at home. Once my little niece has came back, my house becomes lively again. She was asking me if she is allowed to change the TV channel. Everything is back to normal once she has back home. I could hear her voice and I am glad to see her back.

Quiet in the House

Since yesterday, my house has became quiet. This is due to my little niece has went to her gradparents' house to stay over nights for a few days. Her grandparents came to my house to fetch her yesterday morning around 10am. Since it is the school holidays now, my niece wants to go to her grandparents' house as she can play together with her cousin sister.

I feel that my house is quiet when my niece is not around. This is due to normally she is watching TV or playing with her Nintendo DS while she is at home. While she is watching TV, I like to 'interrupt' her as I will change the TV channel for her. So, she will 'fight' with me for the remote control. Haha! I bet you must say that I am a naive person. But I just like to play with my niece. When my niece is at home, I will joke with her, watching TV together with her, and sometimes I will play piano with her, we will play in duet.

When my niece is not in, I feel that I am quite lonely and quiet in the house due to could no hear her little voice. I am happy that she gave me a call this afternoon, she told me that she had McDonald's as her lunch and would go for spaghetti as her dinner. I asked her if she is enjoying at her granparents' house and she said yes but a bit bored. I wonder what is her true feeling, happy but bored! I guess it is the answer of the kid!!! Haha!

Anyway, my niece will only be back home on this Thursday. I am looking forward for that day.  I hope she will enjoy her holidays.

My Life as a TB Patient - Part 4

After 3 parts of my life as a TB patient for my previous posts, hope you would not feel that it is bored. Anyway, when I got my TB relapsed and then I started my treatment at UMMC, again I was on medical leaves for 2 months for self-quarantined at home. So, I did not able to go back to work from January 2010.

FYI, when I had my treatment at UMMC, I got a letter from the hospital that requires the TB patient’s family members (the one that stay together with the TB Patient) to go for the chest x-ray. This is to make sure that the family members did not get affected. So, my family went for the chest x-ray and they all are alright. I was relieved for that. However, I did not inform by the private hospital when I was first seeking treatment from there!

Anyway, I was required to go back to the UMMC every month for follow-up check-up for the first 3 months. My condition has improved a little bit, but I was still having a bit of coughing. Due to I was still quite weak at that time, I resigned from my work in order to get a good rest.

After 3 months of treatment, I then did not need to have monthly follow-up check up, but in every 6 weeks. My medicines had been reduced into 3 types of antibiotics too. FYI, I was still required to do the chest x-ray and blood tests for my every check-up.  Luckily the doctor said that my condition has improved. Doctor wanted me to take the medicines for at least 9 months due to my case is a relapsed case.

Thus, after taken the TB medicines for 9 months, I was thinking that I could stop my treatment. But the doctor told me I needed to go for another 3 months course for the treatment. I would not repeat the reason for the continuation of the treatment as I have blogged about it last time. If you would like to read about it, follow this link.

On 1/12/2010, I went to the UMMC for my TB check-up again. Hooray, the doctor said I have recovered and can stop the treatment. He required me to do a CT scan as to keep as the records for my case. So, my CT scan will be in the month end and then will meet my handsome chest specialist in next month.

So, this is the end of my life as a TB patient. Hopefully I have given you all about the information of the TB. I will take good care my health too as I do not want to fall sick again.  Lastly, I would like to advice to the people, if you have coughing for more than 2 weeks, please go to seek treatment immediately. Please do a chest x-ray too and do not delay the treatment. Health is the most precious asset to us. Stay healthy!!!

Pain and Sacrifice of Love - Koizora (Sky of Love)

I have watched a tragedy romance Japanese movie lately. It is called "Koizora" or "Sky of Love (恋空)". This movie is recommended by my friend. Honestly speaking, this is really a very sad story. It is based on the live-story of the author, Mika. When I was watching this movie, I was crying for the last 20 minutes of the movie. :P

Well, this movie is a hit in Japan in Yr.2007. It is about a couple of high school students who fall in love and encounter many hardships including rape and miscarriage. The story had been made into tv series and manga too. But I only watched the movie. The length of the movie is about 130 minutes. Let me tell you the story of "Koizora".

During her freshman year in high school, Mika Tahara loses her cellular phone, but later finds it in the school library with the help of an unknown caller. Throughout the summer, Mika and the mysterious caller continue to communicate, and agree to meet each other once school starts again. The caller turns out to be Hiro, a delinquent-like boy Mika is initially afraid of, who shows proof of his identity as the caller with a photo of the sky on his cellular phone.

From her friends and through her first sexual encounter with Hiro, Mika learns that he had a girlfriend named Saki. Although Hiro reassures her that he broke up with her, Saki, who still is in love with Hiro, holds a vendetta against Mika and hires a group of men to rape her. The horrific encounter ends with Hiro and his older sister Minako punishing both the men and Saki, but not long after, someone writes a provocative message on all of the school chalkboards with Mika's name and phone number. Hiro continues to protect Mika from all of the bullying advances, but she assures him that she's not frightened anymore from being with him.

Mika later becomes pregnant after she and Hiro consummate in the school library. Hiro is thrilled by the news and both of them gain Hiro's parents' permission to raise the child together, although Mika's parents disapprove of the action. Despite this, Mika is determined to have the baby until the birth becomes a miscarriage due to the physical trauma received when Saki pushed her down a flight of stairs. Despaired, Mika and Hiro build a grave for their baby and promise each other to come visit the memorial on the day of the baby's death yearly.

Shortly after their second year in high school begins, Hiro begins to distance himself from Mika and breaks up with her. Although hurt, Mika meets a college student named Yū at a gōkon, who becomes sympathetic to her situation. The two date, and Yū even prevents Mika's parents from divorcing. On the day of the baby's death, Mika finds Hiro visiting the grave as per their promise. The next year, she continues to move on from Hiro; however, on the day of the baby's death, Mika finds Nozomu at the grave. Nozomu reveals the truth about Hiro's sickly situation, and that he was asked by Hiro himself to watch over Mika.
Mika breaks up with Yū and finds Hiro, diagnosed with cancer, awaiting death at the hospital. Upset that he pretended he didn't love her only to ensure she would have a happy future, she insists that only he can make her happy. Hiro eventually gives into his feelings and gets back together with her. Mika begins to visit the hospital daily, even taking an academic leave, to take care of Hiro, who slowly begins to show signs of recovery. Hiro's resolve to live becomes stronger until he dies during a check-up. Mika is saddened by Hiro's death and tries to commit suicide, but is stopped by a flock of birds flying towards her. She takes this as a sign of Hiro, in the sky, discouraging her from killing herself, and realizes through this and Hiro's journal that he would have wanted her to continue to live. Seven years later, she reflects on how her life had changed upon meeting Hiro, and that she is living happily with him and their baby in mind.

I highly recommend this movie to watch. However, please remember to have tissue with you when you watching it as you sure will need it. After watching such movie, I have some thoughts in my mind. I was wondering, if you were Hiro, would you stay away from Mika forever and did not let her know the truth?! If you were Mika, would you continue to stay with Hiro if he has told you about his cancer in the beginning, so that no time has wasted? Many questions hav crossed my mind.

Let's preview some scenes of the movie here.

I was thinking that a couple to stay together, trust and honesty must be given to each other. Well, this is just my own comments. So, what about you?! Anyway, provides here the link for you if you are interested to catch "Koizora".
Koizora Movie

Enjoy watching!!!

My Life as a TB Patient - Part 3

In my previous blog, I mentioned that I had started my TB drugs for treatment. I was taken 2 pills each for every type of the antibiotic. Thus, I was having 8 pills to be taken in the empty-stomach in an hour before my breakfast in every morning. At the beginning, I was having nauseatic feeling after taking the drugs, then when I got used to it, it became better.  Since I started the TB treatment, I did not have night sweat while I was sleeping.

In the first 3 months, I was required to go back to the hospital for follow-up checking. I had to do the chest x-ray and blood test to check on my condition. Well, after 3 months of treatment, the doctor said I had improvements, my TB drugs had been cut to half, that was only taken Rifampin and Pyridoxine (2 doses each). The doctor also told me that I could go back to work.

So, I returned to my work in September 2009. I was wearing a mask while I was working and taking the LRT. This is due to I wanted to protect myself from getting any virus infection. I also brought my own food for my lunch as I did not want to take the outside food.

I was thinking that since I could return to my work and everything should be alright as I was still kept on taking the medicines. I was still having cough at that time, the doctor also given me treatment for the cough, but it was no effect for me. I was having phlegm too for the cough. My coughing was on and off.

But on one day, when I was coughing, I was coughed out a little bit blood. Hence, I quickly went to see the doctor and told him my condition. The doctor then told me I might cough too vigorous and caused the small blood vessel to burst and caused the bleeding. The doctor told me to monitor for a few days more if I would happen the same. If I would have cough out blood again, it was required to go back for treatment, otherwise it was alright. Since then, I did not cough out any blood, so I did not go back to see the doctor again.

I was required to do for another sputum test in October when I went for my TB follow-up treatment. The reason I was still having cough quite badly. A shock for me, after the sputum test had out in the end of Oct, the doctor told me that I was still having the TB bacteria and my TB had relapsed. Oh my God, what happened to me, why did I have such thing?! I was wondering so much. I was followed the prescription and be careful with my diet, and yet such unfortunate happened to me. The doctor wanted me to self quarantined again, and I had to stop my work again. Therefore I had to go back to my office to report the status of my work to my superior and colleagues in order for them to do the follow-up or taken over as I could not just leave my work in the half way.

Anyway, the doctor from the private hospital whom I seeked for the TB treatment had referred me to see the chest specialist at the UMMC due to my medical conditions, i.e. I am heart disease patient cum TB relapse. I was referred to see the chest specialist at UMMC, he is a Professor. He is a nice doctor. After he found out my case, he told me to continue the treatment and required to self-quarantined again. But again I was unfortunate, I was started to have fever after seeing the Professor. My fever was high and could not subside for about 5 days. Thus I was admitted into UMMC, and had been stayed for a month there. I have blogged about my one month admission in my previous post, if you would like to read it, you many click here.

Anyway, during my staying in the ward, my TB medicines had stopped. This was due to I was having many tests to do and also having ‘dripping’. I started my TB treatment again after my discharge from UMMC. The chest specialist told me that since I had stopped the TB treatment during my admission for more than 2 weeks, thus I had to restart the TB treatment from the beginning, which means I was treated as a new case of TB. So, I was required to take the antibiotics again and was having the self-quarantined at home.

Again, I was on medical leaves again. I had to apply for the unpaid leaves from my work due to I had fully utilised my medical leaves and annual leaves for such sickness. L Again I had to go back to see the chest specialist at UMMC for my TB treatment every month since I discharged. I was referred to see another chest specialist, he is Dr. B.K. Lim. Well, he is a nice and good doctor, and he is good-looking too. Haha! J I was required to do the chest X-ray and blood test for my check-up. SAME OLD THINGS AGAIN!!! I already do not afraid of the needles then.

When I was having TB treatment in UMMC, all the charges are free. Any medical tests or investigation procedures are required to be done related to the TB sickness, it is free of charge in the government hospital. Therefore, I did not need to pay for my x-rays, blood tests. I was so mad that I had spent so much for my TB sickness in the beginning at the private hospital and yet I even got relapse for it. I think it was worthless to seek treatment at the private hospital at that time!!!

My Life as a TB Patient - Part 2

After confirmed diagnosed TB by the doctor, I was given 3 months of medical leave to have self quarantined at home. I was given 4 types of antibiotic/drugs to consume daily as the treatment. The 4 used drugs are as below:

• Isoniazid
• Rifampin
• Pyridoxine
• Ethambutol

I have to take the 4 drugs above in empty-stomach in the morning. After consumed the medicines in an hour later, then only I could take my meal.

The doctor just advised me to have self quarantined at home and to wear mask during my treatment. He reminded me to not consume the Chinese herbal medicines while consuming the western TB medicines. He told me the side effects of the medicines would cause orange-coloured urine and rashes.
However, when I received my TB treatment at the UMMC later on, the nurse informed me that there are more complications and matters are required to take note while having the medical treatment. But this doctor from the private hospital did not inform me at all. Anyway, I will share with you the matters to be taken note while consuming the TB treatment drugs.

Side Effects of the TB Medicines
• Changes in vision
• Orange or brown-colored tears or urines
• Rash

A vision test may be done by the eye specialist before treatment so your doctor can monitor any changes in your eyes' health over time. This is very, very important especially if you consumed the drug of Ethambutol. This is because it would affect the eye vision. I know that there are 2 cases that the patients have affected their eye vision due to taking the TB treatment. One of the cases has reported on the local Chinese newspaper about 2 months ago if I’m not mistaken.

When people do not take their tuberculosis medications as recommended, the infection becomes much more difficult to treat. The TB bacteria may become resistant to treatment, and sometimes, the drugs no longer help treat the infection.

Matters to be taken note while consuming TB Medicines

• Always to wear the mask
• Use your own set of utensils for meals
• Open the windows of the bedroom in order to let the sun ray to shine into the room to kill the bacteria
• Make sure the house/room has the fresh air
• To have the balanced diet

The TB patient is required to see the doctor immediately if having any 3 of the events below during the medical treatment.

1. Jaundice
2. Palpitations
3. Urticaria
4. Swollen for the body

So, during my self quarantined time, I was just stayed in my room. Reading, surfing net, and watching TV in my room. Only taking meals time I stepped out from my room, and I had to eat separately with my family, with my own set of utensils. Moreover, I had to stay away from my niece as she is still young. It was quite a hard time for me! :( Moreover, I also worried about my job too as I could not go to work.

I was having rashes and orange-colored urine while I was consuming my TB treatment. My eye vision has been affected too.

I had to go to the hospital to have my chest x-ray and follow-up check-up every month during my treatment. It was really cost me a lot of money for such illness. :( 

My Life as a TB Patient - Part 1

Year 2009 was a bad year for me. My life has some changes since then. I was diagnosed with the Pulmonary Tuberculosis (TB) in May 2009 due to I was having bad cough for months and I also didn’t know how did I get such illness until todate. After a year plus treatment, I am just recovered from such illness. So, I would like to share with you my life as a TB patient with you all. For your information, pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious bacterial infection that mainly involves the lungs, but may spread to other organs.

In the beginning year of 2009, I was started having cough on and off, sometimes was having phlegm too. I thought I was just having the normal flu and seek for the normal treatment, i.e. taking the cough syrup from the normal GP. Since then, I was started to feel tired easily and always fall sick, having fever. At night time, I was having heavy sweat while I was sleeping as I thought the weather was hot and caused me to sweat a lot. I was also having wheezing too. I was also losing weight at that time. Moreover I was also feeling tired easily at that time. I really did not know that those were the symptoms of the TB sickness. When I was having that night sweating, tired easily and fall sick easily, I was thinking that I was having stress from my work. I really did not have the thought of that I would diagnose the contagious disease.

Anyway, after coughing of few months, my mother took me for the chest X-ray and the sputum examination. OMG, when the results out, doctor said that I was having TB. So I went to the private hospital to seek for the treatment of TB.After seeking the treatment, then only I know that night sweating, wheezing are the symptoms of the TB. Thus, now I would like to provide some information of TB to you here.

I'm Recovered from Sickness! :)

Yes, finally I can stop my medications for my sickness, pulmonary tuberculosis, after taking for 1 full year. Hooray! :) Doctor said that I have recovered but I still have to take good care of my health! Anyway, I am really glad that I can stop those medications and past the life of a TB patient.

Frankly speaking, after I diagnosed with such sickness, my life had changed. My health became weaker, lost weight, and also lost job. It was really a bad experience in my life time.

I will blog about my TB patient experience life in my coming post. The reason is I want to let others to know what should and should not be done with TB, how is the treatment, etc. Overall, I just want to let people know more about TB.

Anyway, an advice to the people out there. Please do take good care of health as it is very important to us. Please do not stress yourself too much, otherwise you will fall sick easily. Do live your life at your fullest!!! Cheers!!! :)
