My Life as a TB Patient - Part 4

After 3 parts of my life as a TB patient for my previous posts, hope you would not feel that it is bored. Anyway, when I got my TB relapsed and then I started my treatment at UMMC, again I was on medical leaves for 2 months for self-quarantined at home. So, I did not able to go back to work from January 2010.

FYI, when I had my treatment at UMMC, I got a letter from the hospital that requires the TB patient’s family members (the one that stay together with the TB Patient) to go for the chest x-ray. This is to make sure that the family members did not get affected. So, my family went for the chest x-ray and they all are alright. I was relieved for that. However, I did not inform by the private hospital when I was first seeking treatment from there!

Anyway, I was required to go back to the UMMC every month for follow-up check-up for the first 3 months. My condition has improved a little bit, but I was still having a bit of coughing. Due to I was still quite weak at that time, I resigned from my work in order to get a good rest.

After 3 months of treatment, I then did not need to have monthly follow-up check up, but in every 6 weeks. My medicines had been reduced into 3 types of antibiotics too. FYI, I was still required to do the chest x-ray and blood tests for my every check-up.  Luckily the doctor said that my condition has improved. Doctor wanted me to take the medicines for at least 9 months due to my case is a relapsed case.

Thus, after taken the TB medicines for 9 months, I was thinking that I could stop my treatment. But the doctor told me I needed to go for another 3 months course for the treatment. I would not repeat the reason for the continuation of the treatment as I have blogged about it last time. If you would like to read about it, follow this link.

On 1/12/2010, I went to the UMMC for my TB check-up again. Hooray, the doctor said I have recovered and can stop the treatment. He required me to do a CT scan as to keep as the records for my case. So, my CT scan will be in the month end and then will meet my handsome chest specialist in next month.

So, this is the end of my life as a TB patient. Hopefully I have given you all about the information of the TB. I will take good care my health too as I do not want to fall sick again.  Lastly, I would like to advice to the people, if you have coughing for more than 2 weeks, please go to seek treatment immediately. Please do a chest x-ray too and do not delay the treatment. Health is the most precious asset to us. Stay healthy!!!
