The Adorable Panda

I have watched a Chinese movie about the Panda recently. The panda is really an adorable animal for me. But panda is one of the animals that is required to be protected very much as it is going to extinct soon.

The movie that I have watched is called the "Trail of the Panda". In Chinese, it is called "熊猫回家路". It is the movie in Yr.2009. It is a family-friendly movie. This movie attempts a global marketing masterstroke through the presence of China's super-cute bamboo-eating national treasure, the Giant Panda. The filmmakers also multiply the cuteness factor by employing not just a Giant Panda, but an adorable Giant Panda cub. The director of this movie is Zhong Yu. The cast of the movie are Daichi Harashima, Zhang Qi, and Feng Li.



The story of the movie is told in flashback, the story concerns Lu (Daichi Harashima of Lost in Time), a young boy living in the mountains with his foster guardian Lao Chen (Zhang Qi). Lu has been mute since becoming an orphan, but his vocal cords reawaken when he meets an adorable Giant Panda cub pursued by Lao Chen and visiting panda researcher Feng (Feng Li). Since the mother panda has twin cubs, the researcher (perhaps mistakenly) thinks that one will receive inadequate care. As Lu looks on disapprovingly, Feng and Lao Chen pursue one cub, but lose him when rain falls and covers the panda’s tracks. The men retire for the evening while the panda, separated from his mother and sibling, fends for himself.

The day after, Lu happens upon the injured and sick panda cub, and within moments decides to protect him from Lao Chen and Feng. Naming the cub “Pang Pang”, Lu brings him to a deserted shack and goes about trying to hide his scent from the adults and pursuing dogs. What follows is an entertaining deception, as Lu splits his time between home and the shack, fearing the dogs and their keen senses, while also quietly lying to the adults. The men eventually venture deeper into the mountains to find other pandas, giving Lu the chance to earn the panda cub's friendship and trust. But Lu’s deception cannot remain a secret forever; eventually the men return, and Pang Pang is threatened with a life in captivity and permanent separation from his family.


Trail of the Panda proves to be solid, albeit underdeveloped family entertainment. Credit must go to the panda; seeing the young cub lope up and down the mountain, roll around in the grass, and generally act lazy is an uber-cute experience that should please just about anyone with a pulse. The Giant Panda is an undeniably charming creature, and the presence of three of them makes Trail of the Panda naturally pleasant. The human characters aren’t bad either; the conflicts and relationships are earnestly presented, with Zhang Qi and Daichi Harashima managing to give their surrogate father-son relationship some decent emotion. The film's righteous and honorable lessons are somewhat cloying, but ultimately don't distract from the film's genial, harmless feel.

The film sags in the middle when the adults leave the picture and the story loses its tension. But during that stretch there’s even more panda shenanigans, so whatever is lost in tension is compensated by sheer fuzzy watchability. Kids will likely enjoy the film simply for the panda, and adults should enjoy the mountain scenery, if not the panda too. Trail of the Panda ends with voiceover extolling the virtues of the Woolong National Nature Reserve in Sichuan, China - a tacked on bit that feels more like a public service announcement than part of the narrative. Still, the coda is appropriate since the reserve's Panda Research Center provided the pandas for the film. Also, the reserve was devastated by the 2008 Sichuan Earthquake, and the adult Giant Panda that played Pang Pang's mother was among the casualties. If Trail of the Panda is a bit too forthcoming with its earnest patriotism, that unexpected poignancy gives it cause.


Personally, I am quite enjoy with this movie. The panda cubs are very cute. I have seen the real panda when I was travelling to Beijing in many years back. I saw the pandas in the Beijing Zoo. I remember that the pandas were sitting there lazily and biting the bamboo stick, and they were enjoying themselves very much. All the people were happy to see them, of course I was too. I took some photo of them too.

Panda is having a small population nowadays, thus it is very "precious". If I am not mistaken, Japan had paid the compensation of many millions of US dollars to China for causing the panda's death in Japan in not long ago. I think it is a tragedy for the panda's death. :(

Yes Broaderband

I went to Lot 10 and Pavilion for shopping on last weekend. There is already Christmas decorations in Pavilion. It is very beautiful. Many people are taking photo. I also took some snapshots there.

When I went to Lot 10, I saw there was Yes counter for the enquiries and registration of the new service of the broadband. Many people were there to make enquiries. So I made some enquires about this new broaderband service as I was quite interested for it after I read from the newspaper.  After the explainations from the stuff, I decided to give it a try for this new service. I subscribed on the spot by paying RM149 and registered as the user. On the next day, I managed to get online. The reason I subscribed are there is a complimentary data services up to 10GB for the new Yes customer and there is a rebate too. I wish that I would get a good service with this new broaderband. Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Today is Thanksgiving Day. It is a harvest festival celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada. Traditionally, it has been a time to give thanks for a bountiful harvest. While it may have been religious in origin, Thanksgiving is now primarily identified as a secular holiday. It is sometimes casually referred to as Turkey Day.


In Canada, Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on the second Monday in October, which is Columbus Day in the United States. In the United States, it falls on the fourth Thursday of November which is today.

Thus, I am wishing all Happy Thanksgiving!!!

The Cute Little Hip-Hop Dancer

Last Saturday afternoon, my niece was having her hip-hop dance performance for the 10^th Anniversary Celebration of Positive Parenting event at the Sunway Pyramid shopping mall. Besides the hip-hop dance performance, there were performances of children ballet, children Latin and some games between parents and children.

The performance was started at 12pm; my niece performance group was the 4th event of the show. Their performance was the best among all the groups as others were nervous when they performed and one of the performances was stopped in between due to the technical error for the music. How unfortunate for those young performers. Well, after the dance performances, there was a hip-hop tutor invited the children to go up the stage and demonstrated and teaching them hip-hop dance. There were about 12 children on the stage.

When I was watching the demonstration on the stage, I realised there was a cute little boy was imitating the hip-hop tutor. But this cute little boy was not on the stage, he was standing next to the stage. He followed all the moves of the hip-hop tutor. When the music started, he danced along with the music with the hip-hop dance steps and when the music has stopped, he stopped the dancing too. I think he is just about age of 3 and he is really very cute. I then quickly took his photo and video for this cute little boy. I was laughing so much while videotaping him. Guess what, his actions had caught the attention of some of the audiences too, so we all were laughing happily at that time for his performance. Well, I would like to apologise for those on stage at that time as I was thinking the little boy whom next to the stage was much more interesting than those on the stage! :P Hehe!!!

The little boy has ‘performed’ for about 5 – 8 minutes I think. I believed he had really caught the attention of many people; even the children on the stage also saw him and laughed.  After the hip-hop demo, all the children on the stage had received a CD as a gift. Guess what, this little cute boy had received his gift too. I think the organiser staff also saw his performance! Haha!  He was very happy to get it and then he left together with his father.

1119, It's my Birthday! :)

Today's date is 19th November, 1119, it is my birthday. I am celebrating my **th birthday. Oops, age is the secret of the lady! Haha! So I would not review my age! Hehe! :P Actually I am having the same birthday as the Hollywood actresses, they are Meg Ryan and Jodie Foster. Both of them are my favourite actresses. Moreover, I am also having the same birthday with the HK TVB too.

After I woke up this morning, I was having an boiled egg as my breakfast. Then I went to KFC for my lunch. Of course I also received some birthday greetings from my friends and relatives via SMS and facebook. But the most happy thing for me is that I received a birthday greeting card from my 10 year-old niece. She made the card by herself and she has drawn some pictures on the card. It is very beautiful and I like it very much. Moreover, she bought me a pack of Famous Amous cookies this afternoon. Guess what, it is her favourite cookies and of course I have to share with her for the cookies. :)

My mother has cooked my favourite dishes for my dinner. I guess it could be considered as a celebration for me. I still remember that I was eating my birthday cake in my ward last year as I had been hospitalised in the UMMC for a month. I was really upset at that time. So, it is my birthday as I do not have a big celebration for it. Anyway, my birthday wish are to have good health and happy always.

The 1st Gold Medal of 16th Asian Games for Malaysia

Finally, Malaysia has won the 1st gold medal in the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou, China on 15/11/2010. The gold medalist athlete is Chai Fong Ying for the event of women's Wushu Taijiquan-Taijijian. She beaten the athletes of Japan and Taiwan. Guess what, she is also the gold medalist in the same event in the last Asian Games in Doha. I think she is AMAZING!!! Congratulations!!!

I am proud for her as she is the first Malaysian athlete to win the gold medal in this Asian Games, and moreover, the Chinese has won the 1st gold medal for the country! Hooray!

Another gold medal for Malaysia in this Asian Games is Azizulhasni Awang. He won the gold medal in the keirin cycling event today. Well, congratulations again!

Well, I think our next hope to win the gold medal is from the squash event. I am wishing the squash player, Nicole will perform well in her games and unlike the badminton team. It is really a disappointment from the Malaysian badminton team, not even a bronze medal as been defeated by the Thai players. Frankly speaking, I have not hear that the Thai players are good in badminton! But now I have known it.

Anyway, I wish Malaysia could at least hold the records of the medals as last Asian Games, ie. 8 Gold, 17 Silver and 17 Bronze. Thus, I wish all the best to the Malaysian athletes in Guangzhou, China. Ganbatte!!!

Excuse me, do you mind?!

Last night I was having dinner with my family at one of the Chinese restaurants at the Sunway Menteri. We were sitting at a table which was next to a couple. The couple was sitting at the table which was nearby the entrance of the restaurant.

When we were enjoying our meals in the half way, I suddenly smelt a cigarette smell. OMG, the guy from the couple who was sitting next to our table was smoking. He had lighted up his cigarette and enjoying his time there. The smoke all came to our side here. Then after awhile, the lady also started to join him, she was smoking too. Gosh, I really could not stand the cigarette smell. I was looking at them angrily and was thinking that they were so selfish.

I was also looking around at the restaurant to see if there was any notice signs for not smoking. Too bad, there were not any signs for it. Otherwise I would have complaint to the restaurant owner. Actually I think the couple was very selfish people. Since they were sitting nearby the door, why didn’t they go outside for their smoking instead of did in inside the air-cond room. Wouldn’t they know to smoke in the air-cond room would ‘pollute’ there?! Besides, couldn’t they see there were small kids and old people were having meals in the restaurant, why did they still smoking inside the room? Moreover, smoking is bad for health, if they are not concern on themselves, please bear in mind that there are people who are concern about their own health. Overall, I just think those people are too selfish. 

Anyway, since I could not do anything to those smoker couple, it made my family and I had to finish the meal fast and to leave the restaurant. As I know that there are campaigns for stop smoking, I don’t think it works. I just wish that if the smokers would like have smoking next time, please go to the smoking area and please DO think for others who don’t smoke. Otherwise, I think you might be having someone approached to you and say, “Excuse me, do you mind?!”
